Are you ready? I’m about to take spill the beans. To tell you the truth behind why you’re not seeing the results you want. And to let you in on the fitness secret that’ll change everything.

This one weird trick will immediately help you get better results. Shed pounds of fat. Pack on lean muscle. Become more confident in your own skin. Look amazing. And feel fantastic. No matter what your goals are, this one secret will change the game.

Hard stop.

Sound familiar?

Everything’s called a secret these days. Because marketing. Headlines have used, overused, and abused “secret” for years. And the fitness industry is one of the worst offenders. How many times have you heard about the fitness secret that’s guaranteed to help you do x, y, or z? Better yet, how many times have you clicked on a link that mentions a secret? I mean, you clicked on this one, right?

Simply put, secrets sell. Or get clicks, plays, downloads, and subscriptions.

But they’re not even secrets. Because, you know, secrets are supposed to be…well, secretive. And broadcasting a secret for the world to see blatantly defies the notion of secrecy.

Plus, most of these so-called secrets are actually hurting progress, not helping.

Information overload brings results to a screeching halt. And when fitness secrets bombard your news feed day after day, information overload is inevitable. One video you watched after clicking on an ad says that bananas are one of the five foods making you fat. Meanwhile, Freelee the Banana Girl eats 51 bananas in a single day and she’s super lean.

Hold on. I thought bananas made me fat. But Freelee says—and shows—they won’t. Which one is it, Internet?

For every extreme, there’s an equal number of people that advocate the other end of the spectrum. You’ve got the intuitive eaters and the macro trackers, the breakfast champs and intermittent fasters, the clean eaters and IIFYM crowd, the cardio kings/queens and the powerlifting pros—the list goes on.

It’s confusing. There’s way too much information—and misinformation.

Instead of seeing results, we’re left trying to sort it all out. Instead of taking action and moving in the right direction, we’re stuck over analyzing our options and going nowhere. It’s called analysis paralysis. And it’s ruining results for everyone. Luckily, there’s a simple solution. It’s the only fitness secret you need to know.

The One Fitness “Secret” That Actually Matters

fitness secretForget sensational headlines and clickbait. I want to tell you the truth. Here’s the biggest fitness secret I know:

There is no secret.

That’s it. Pretty simple, right? But the fitness industry doesn’t tell you that. Usually, it tells you all about the secret to fat loss. Or gaining muscle. Or getting stronger. Or whatever else your goals might be. Secrets sell, remember. So, naturally, the industry loves them.

In fairness, the intent is usually genuine—to help people. But it isn’t helping. And that’s a problem.

Even with the best of intentions, industry “secrets” lead to confusion, polarization to opposite extremes, unnecessary dogma, incessant program hopping, and stifled progress. None of that’s helping anybody. Our attention and focus splinter as we search through the sea of secrets.

Essentialism, a book by Greg McKeown, illustrates my point—literally.

Imagine each arrow being your effort. When that effort is split, you don’t get very far. You simply can’t. But when the same amount effort becomes focused, you don’t simply move forward. You leap. Chasing fitness secrets will split your focus and you won’t progress. However, when you realize the real secret—that there is no secret—you can get focused and see more success. Even with the same amount of effort.

There’s the Fitness Secret, Now Here’s What to Do

Fitness success is contingent on habit change. Even in ideal circumstances, habit change is difficult. And usually, we make it even harder because we don’t want to change one habit, we want to change all of the habits.

Armed with the fitness secrets we’ve seen everywhere, we go from zero to 60 with breakneck speed.

We cut carbs. We start going to the gym. We start drinking more water. Eating more veggies. Tracking macros. Try that juice cleanse we read about. Doing more cardio. Eating organic. Avoiding gluten. And whatever else we think is going to going to help.

It’s too much. Here’s what to do instead:

xExtrodinary results quotexPick. One. Thing.

It’s simple, yes. But when it comes to your success, simple is a good thing. In fact, research shows that 80% of the time, people maintain habit change for at least one year when they focus on one thing. Awesome. Trying to tackle two things? The success rate sinks to less than 35%. Three or more and it plummets below five.

Do this:

Set yourself up for success by narrowing your focus. Pick the one thing you think will make the biggest impact on your fitness success, focus on that (only that), and start seeing more progress.

P.S. – I personally read and respond to each and every email. Looking forward to yours.

P.P.S. – Full disclosure: I’ve been part of the problem with fitness secrets. When I first got started in the industry, I did what everybody else was doing. But as I’ve coached, I’ve learned what really matters. And it’s not about some big secret, it’s about helping people. So, thanks for letting me do what I can to help you. It means the world to me.
